Dr. Christopher J. Haggerty is a native of Kansas City, Missouri and a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). Dr. Haggerty completed his dental training at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2002. He then entered a combined Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/M.D. integrated residency in 2002 at Louisiana State University. Dr. Haggerty graduated from medical school at Louisiana State University in 2005. He then completed an internship in general surgery/neurosurgery in 2006. In 2006, he received the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) Community Service Award for his actions during hurricane Katrina.
An oral & maxillofacial surgeon (OMFS) is a surgeon who specializes in surgery of the mouth, jaws and face. Oral & maxillofacial surgeons must attend four years of college, four years of dental school, and have a minimum of four years of a hospital based residency after receiving their dental doctoral degree.
